I am so excited for the opportunity to teach your student this year in Kindergarten. This is my fifth year of teaching and my first in Kindergarten. Previously I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades. This is my second year at Driggs and I LOVE it! I feel so lucky to teach at the best little public school in America!
I grew up in Farmington, Utah and graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I have always loved school and I think I have the best job in the world because I get to learn all day long! I love to laugh with my students and in Kindergarten there is plenty to laugh about!
My husband grew up in the Holladay area, so we felt fortunate to be able to purchase his grandfather’s home a few years ago and be able to return to the neighborhood where he spent his childhood. We’ve had a great time fixing up our home and learning some home improvement and gardening skills. When we’re not working on our house, we love to watch movies and try out new restaurants together.
One of the most defining experiences of my life was the opportunity I had to travel to Adamnana, Ghana, Africa, a small village about an hour and a half away from the capital city of Accra to work in an orphanage. I lived on site at the Savior Children Foundation Orphanage and helped to care for the nearly forty orphaned children who lived there. There was a school on the orphanage compound which serviced about 200 additional village children and I had the opportunity to teach Pre-K, kindergarten, and 1st grade while I was there. It was a dream come true to get to go to Africa and it’s an experience I love to share with my students.
My husband and I had a fun time this summer on a Western Mediterranean cruise where we were able to visit Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, and Greece. We also added a puppy named Blossom to our family this summer and she has been so much fun! In addition to Blossom, we also have two fish named Felix and Phillip.
